All about me:
I studied at the Falmouth School of Art in Cornwall and at The Slade in London and in 1985 I became a founder member of Borderline Printmakers. This was after I had combined printmaking and painting techniques to develop a wide ranging portfolio of exhibitions and workshops both in this country and abroad.
My work is figurative and dwells upon the landscape as a metaphor for human intensity and feelings. Currently, I am focusing on the horizon line as a division symbolising the split between heaven and earth, the spirit and the body, interior life and exterior presentation. I enjoy the paint being what it chooses to be and encourage it's unpredictable qualities to ebb and flow into the structures and marks contained within the image.
My observation of the elements and their dramatic effect upon our world reflects my passion for semi-urban landscapes both real and suggested. My atmospheric work portrays an ambiguous intensity through unique use of colour and form.
